Donation gives retired rental inventory a second purpose while supporting Maryland communities through AFR’s new partnership with the Maryland Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs

August 26, 2026 — American Furniture Rentals (AFR) believes quality furniture can continue serving communities long after its rental life ends. Throughout July and August, AFR put that belief into action by donating 157 furnishings and household items, an estimated 3,826 pounds in total, to Boys & Girls Clubs across Maryland as part of its new annual partnership with the Maryland Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.

The donations included a wide range of seating, office and workspace furniture, tables and storage pieces, household appliances and electronics, lighting, area rugs, mirrors, artwork, and other accent furnishings.

Since May 2026, AFR’s partnership with the Maryland Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs is structured as an annual commitment. In Maryland, the partnership supports a network of 75+ Club program locations. AFR donates furnishings retired from its rental inventory, covers delivery costs, and coordinates logistics directly with participating Clubs.

In addition to the donation partnership described above, AFR maintains separate commercial relationships with other independently operated Boys & Girls Club chapters. Such commercial relationships are distinct from, and not part of, the donation partnership.

“This partnership reflects a core conviction: responsible business and community investment reinforce each other,” said Jimish Kothari, Chief Asset Management Officer at American Furniture Rentals. “Furniture that has completed its rental life still holds real value. Channeling that value to youth-serving nonprofits is good for young people, good for communities, and good for the planet.”

“We are appreciative of this generous furniture donation and the impact it will have on Boys & Girls Clubs across Maryland. These furnishings help create welcoming, functional spaces where young people can learn, grow, connect and feel a sense of belonging. We are grateful for this investment in Maryland Boys & Girls Clubs and, most importantly, for how it will positively impact thousands of Maryland youth and families we are proud to serve,” said Mark Piccirilli, State Director of the Maryland Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.

By extending the useful life of quality furniture and household items, AFR helps reduce waste while giving these furnishings a second purpose in the community. AFR tracks its furniture donation activity and related environmental impact annually as part of its sustainability reporting.

Additional donation days may be scheduled as demand evolves and inventory allows. For more information, visit rentfurniture.com/afrgivesback.
