Summer Lovin’

It’s hard to believe that we are already in the middle of the summer months. While most people are packing to go on vacation others are looking to revamp their homes to give it a fresh look. If you are looking to give your home that summer feel without going overboard take a look at some of the hottest interior design trends of summer 2015.

Many designers agree less is more. Having less furniture in a room can open the space giving it that open, seaside feel. Pick furniture pieces you know you can do without and that will help open up the floor plan. Having too much in one room can make it look overcrowded. Removing the television is another way to remodel in a pinch. The summer months are meant for entertaining outdoors. Getting rid of the television will give guests more to talk about and less to stare at!

When picking out a color theme think teal blue, pink, coral or yellow. Choosing any of these colors will give your home the pop it may need. These are considered “beach colors” and by painting even just an accent wall it can bring the beach feel indoors. If you don’t think painting the walls with bright colors is the choice for you. Go natural with white!

Using white furniture or curtains can add a sense of peace and tranquility to a room. White makes the room look big and sleek. You can use the beach colors for accent pieces. Or pick bright floral pillows or pieces that have tropical fruit on them.

Summer is all about warmth, nature and natural light. You can make your home feel like a vacation no matter where you live. Be subtle. Add a bowl of fresh fruit as a decoration or fresh plants throughout the home. These clever little touches, no matter how minor you think they are, can transport guests to their favorite vacation spot and easily spark a conversation. It’s all about relaxation and those care free summer moments. Make your home the retreat you deserve!
