Lights, Camera, AFR!

We told you that the The DeSIGN & INspire Nationwide Networker Tour was heading out on the road and this past week, we made our first stop in Atlanta for 300 guests at our sponsored venue, The Tabernacle.

The venue, a concert hall venue was once a Baptist Church.  Both rich in history and character it is currently operated by Live Nation and is a beautiful venue for events and the perfect setting for our Atlanta tour stop.

There is so much filming and production going on in Georgia.  We wanted to capitalize on everyone’s enthusiasm for the film industry.  There are some favorites you might recognize on the list that have been filmed in Georgia. Hunger Games, Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries along with standard favorites like Driving Ms. Daisy, Forest Gump, Sweet Home Alabama, Blindside, Steel Magnolias, and Anchor Man 2.  We showcased several of our collections and products set in lounges themed to different television and movie motifs.

To carry the movie theme throughout the night, our Design Challenge contestants featured movie concepts.  Each designer showcased a different film  - Driving Ms. Daisy, Steel Magnolia and Anchor Man 2.   The guests voted and the winner of the Atlanta Design Challenge was the “Driving Ms. Daisy” inspired vignette designed by Kristine Finke of Bold American Events. Congratulations on your winning design!!!

Food was provided by five, top area caterers who showcased delectable bites, each of them choosing a film or television show to highlight at their station presentation – one even used a whole roasted pig within their Hunger Games themed buffet.

Throughout the evening, live, top notch entertainment was featured (what else would showcase a concert hall venue better?) with Southern Rock Band - Like A Locomotive and DJ, Mark Adams to close out the night.  The evening was MC’d by Joey “The Voice” Watson.

Toward the end of the evening we held our raffle drawing for the The Special Event Conference package provided by our National Sponsor Partner, The Special Event.  Congratulations to Lauren Waldman, Creative Services Manager at GEP!  We’ll see you in Nashville in January!

One thing that really made our Atlanta stop different is that the SKYVIEW just opened in July, and featured promotional rides for our guests.  If you’re not in the know, the Skyview is a Ferris wheel that stands 20 stories high with 42 gondolas similar to the London Eye.  The SKYVIEW offered a promotion just for our guests. Nothing like adding Hotlanta’s newest attraction to the list of inspiration and fun at our Networker!

The evening would not be possible without our sponsors and we’d like to thank Glorious Events, TEP, Cookie Studio, Carole Parks, Park Bar, The Tabernacle, Ppi, Bold American Events, WM Events, Bridget Productions, Unique Event Management, Graceful Tables, Total Plant and Floral, ArtStar, Button It Up, Focal Blue, Laz Parking, eTouches, The Special Event, One Touch Events, and Atlanta Security, and last but not least, our entertainment, listed above.  THANK YOU for helping to make our first tour stop such a success.  We hope that you met some new people, gained some new clients and had as good of a time as we did!

The evening was a great one and there was only one thing missing, our colleague Marie Advincula was unable to attend as she was taken ill and in the hospital.  We missed you Marie and we are wishing you a speedy recovery!

Next stop, Charlotte.  We’ll see you there on September 4th!
